Iran launched a strike against Al Udeid U.S. Air Base in Qatar, Axios and Reuters reported Monday.

Iran said they launched a barrage of missiles at the base of an equal amount to U.S. bombs dropped on Iran Saturday night, according to Reuters. At least one missile was reportedly launched into Iraq, according to Axios.

The reported strike marks Tehran’s first wave of direct military retaliation against the U.S. after President Donald Trump ordered strikes against three Iranian nuclear facilities Saturday night. The U.S. vowed to launch further strikes on Iran if the Islamic Republic attacks any U.S. forces in the region. (RELATED: ‘Is

Three Iranian officials familiar with the operation told the New York Times that they gave Qatar advance notice that the attacks were coming.

The Qatar Foreign Minister’s office said there are no reported casualties from the attack so far, while condemning the act as “a flagrant violation of Qatar’s sovereignty, its airspace, and international law,” according to the Associated Press.

“We reassure that Qatar’s air defenses successfully thwarted the attack and intercepted the Iranian missiles,” a Qatari spokesperson said in a statement to the AP.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran, relying on Almighty God and the faithful, proud people of Iran, will never leave any aggression against its territorial integrity, sovereignty, or national security unanswered,” the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps said in a statement, according to CNN.

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) declined to comment, while the Pentagon did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.
