It was never clear from the beginning, when the press was willing to countenance the president of the United States delaying holding a press conference indefinitely, how long the honeymoon would last. Now it has finally happened. As noted here, after Biden’s joint “presser” with Boris Johnson ended with Johnson taking two questions to Biden’s none:
[T]he White House press pool was furious with how they were treated and immediately marched into White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki’s office and lodged a formal complaint, according to White House Correspondents’ Association President Steven Portnoy.
Apparently, as far as the media are concerned, Joe Biden has taken refuge in his virtual basement for the last time. Let’s see how that impacts their coverage of him, which up to now has been largely fawning.
