It is not clear whether Officer Ronil Singh, of the Newman (Calif.) Police Department, had a chance to spend Christmas with his family before heading out on patrol, but it is a certainty he will not be with them for future Christmases. He was shot and killed by a man he had pulled over just before 1 a.m. on Dec. 26. The suspect then sped away from the scene, leaving his victim to bleed to death.
According to ABC News, a manhunt is now underway to for the gunman whose image was captured on a security camera as was that of the vehicle he was driving — a gray, extended cab Dodge Ram pickup truck:

Newman Police Chief Randy Richardson is quoted as saying, “If anyone has any information regarding the identity of the suspect, please contact law enforcement immediately so we can get this cop-killer off the streets.” The numbers for those with information to call are 209-525-7083 or Crime Stoppers at 209-521-4636.
Witnesses are urged not to approach the suspect or vehicle it they see either but to call 911 immediately.
The investigation is being conducted by the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department.
