Anderson Cooper ‘sorry’ for crude comment about president directed at conservative

CNN host Anderson Cooper wants you to know he’s ‘sorry.’ That seems like a frank admission. I have long felt that everyone associated with CNN is pretty sorry. In January, I reported that CNN (aka, the Clinton Network News) entertained the question on air “What if an incoming president and his immediate successors were wiped out on day one?” Yes, I know the network didn’t specify which president and his immediate successors, so I guess they weren’t guilty of sedition.

But CNN is unequivocally guilty of conjuring up a fairly disgusting image of President Donald Trump as a means to criticizing a conservative guest. The setting was “AC360,” hosted by veteran Anderson Cooper. His guest was conservative author Jeffrey Lord. The topic was the New York Times’s claim that the president told the Russians that former FBI Director James Comey was a “nut job” who was adding pressure to the ongoing investigation of possible interference in the 2016 election. When Lord appeared to resist the notion, Cooper pointedly said, referring to Trump:

If he took a dump on his desk, you would defend it. I don’t know what he would do that you would not defend.

Here is a video of the segment:

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Cooper later apologized on-air and on Twitter, writing at the latter:

It’s the latest stain on a network that — to put it bluntly — would have defended Barack Obama if he had taken a dump on his desk.
