Detectives from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department opened up a manhole cover in Nancy Guthrie’s backyard as the search for the missing 84-year-old intensifies.
Officials searched the septic tank as drones captured footage from above, according to reports Sunday from The New York Post. “The Nancy Guthrie investigation is ongoing. Follow-up continues at multiple locations. No suspects, persons of interest, or vehicles have been identified,” the Sheriff’s department wrote Sunday on X.
“No scheduled press briefings. If any significant developments occur in the case, a press conference will be called,” they said.
The active investigation at Nancy’s home comes just hours after “Today” host Savannah Guthrie and her siblings took to social media to declare their willingness to pay the ransom in exchange for their mother’s safe return.
The New York Post reported that the ransom demand is for $6 million requested by Bitcoin.
“We beg you now to return our mother to us, so that we can celebrate with her,” she said.
“This is the only way we can have peace.” (RELATED: Nancy Guthrie’s Abductors Reportedly Demanding $6 Million)
“This is very valuable to us, and we will pay,” Guthrie said.
The ransom note contained a stern deadline of 5 p.m. Feb, 9.
