“A professor at Rutger’s University in New Brunswick, New Jersey nicknamed ‘Dr. Antifa’ announced he is relocating to Europe after a student-led petition called for his firing,” reports Campus Reform:
Mark Bray, an assistant teaching professor and author of “Antifa: The Anti-Fascist Handbook,” told students he would move his classes online “for safety reasons,” according to Fox News….The decision follows a petition launched by the campus chapter of Turning Point USA, which called his employment “a threat to conservative students.”
“We, the students of Rutgers University, are deeply concerned to learn that an outspoken, well-known antifa member, Dr. Mark Bray, is employed by the university,” the petition begins.
“With the current trend of left-wing terrorism, having a prominent leader of the antifa movement on campus is a threat to conservative students on campus,” the petition continues.
Andy Ngo, a journalist and editor of the Post Millennial, describes Bray as a “financier” of antifa. “Bray is a financier of antifa and advocates for their violence,” Ngo says. Bray “donated half of the profits from” his “book to the International Anti-Fascist Defense Fund,” a group that supports antifa activists, according to a progressive media outlet.
Bray and his family then left the U.S. for Spain, although their first attempt to leave failed. As another publication reports, the first time they went to
the airport, after they had already scanned their passports, received boarding passes, checked in their bags, and cleared security, Bray says he and his family were not allowed to board their flight. Upon arrival at their boarding gate, their reservations had suddenly disappeared from the United Airlines system.
“For 20 minutes [United Airlines] couldn’t even figure out what had happened,” says Bray. “Then they said that, basically, somehow someone had canceled our reservation, presumably in between checking through and then. I don’t know what happened. There are various potential explanations, but I don’t think it was a coincidence that it happened to us on that day.”
Bray says that he has been rebooked on flights to Spain. “We’re going to try it one more time,” says Bray. “If it doesn’t work, then we’ll do something else.” United Airlines did not immediately respond to a request for comment….Bray says he plans to stay in Spain until the end of academic year.
A day later, Bray and his family managed to leave for Spain on another flight.
