Photo of the Day: My Grandfather Meeting the King of Libya

Above is a photo of my maternal grandfather meeting Idris, the King of Libya, in the early 1960s. Idris was king from 1951 until 1969, whe was overthrown in a coup d’état. He was ousted by military officers led by Colonel Muammar Gaddafi, who ruled Libya as a brutal dictator from 1969 to 2011. My grandfather was in Libya to build transmission lines and engineering projects.
