CIA deputy director’s son killed while fighting for Russia in Ukraine

The son of a CIA Deputy Director died last year while fighting for Russia in Ukraine. He graduated from the left-wing Fairfax County Public Schools, which promote social justice ideology and critical race theory, and depict America as a racist wrongdoer. Being around the CIA doesn’t immunize people against leftism. In fact, one CIA Director, John Brennan, was leftist enough that he voted for the Community Party candidate for president in 1976, Gus Hall.

The Kyiv Independent reports:

The son of a deputy head of the CIA was killed fighting for Russia in Ukraine in 2024, Russian publication Important Stories reported in an investigation published on April 25.

Michael Gloss, 21, was the son of CIA Deputy Director for Digital Innovation Julianne Gallina Gloss…Before arriving in Russia on August 13, 2023, Gloss was travelling around Europe. On his Vkontakte page bio, he wrote: “I ran away from home (and) traveled the world. I hate fascism.”

Gloss studied Human Ecology at Middlebury College in Vermont and was described as an eco-activist, women’s rights supporter, and anti-fascist, Important Stories reports.

He created an Instagram post with anti-fascist graffiti in March 2023, with the hashtag “end Ukraine war.”

But despite supporting Ukraine at the beginning of the full-scale war, he was at a military recruitment center in Moscow, alongside other foreign nationals, by September 5, 2023, the investigation found.

His social media posts show a distinct change in his views — he believed in conspiracy theories involving Ukraine, and claimed NATO was an evolution of Adolf Hitler’s Nazi party.

Gloss was enlisted in Russia’s 137th Ryazan Airborne Regiment….A Russian soldier who served with him said he was “a staunch supporter of Russia and loved it.” On April 4, 2024, he was killed, likely during a Russian offensive near Bakhmut. His burial in the U.S. did not take place until December 2024…According to an obituary written by his parents, Gloss “was tragically killed in Eastern Europe,” while he “was forging his own hero’s journey with his noble heart and warrior spirit.” “He wanted the world to be a better place with more fairness, peace and harmony with nature,” it says….The obituary made no mention of Russia or Ukraine.

Gloss is a 2021 graduate of the Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS), Virginia’s largest school system. FCPS has encouraged teachers to apply critical race theory and depict America as racist and flawed. The Washington Times reported that a “slide presentation” in 2021 “instructed social studies teachers in Fairfax County Public Schools that ‘critical race theory is a frame’ for their work.”

In 2020, the Fairfax County Schools paid Ibram Kendi, who advocates discrimination against white people, $20,000 for a one-hour presentation on “anti-racism” to school staff. As the Daily Wire notes, “Under Kendi’s ideology, discriminating against others on the basis of race is a meritorious idea, so long as it is producing racial equity (i.e., anti-racist). Kendi explains this ideology in ‘How to Be an Antiracist,’ his 2019 best-selling book.”

As Kendi puts it, “The only remedy to racist discrimination is antiracist discrimination. The only remedy to past discrimination is present discrimination. The only remedy to present discrimination is future discrimination.”

Kendi also hates free markets. “To love capitalism is to end up loving racism. To love racism is to end up loving capitalism…Capitalism is essentially racist; racism is essentially capitalist,” says Kendi’s book How to Be An Antiracist. That book is a “comprehensive introduction to critical race theory,” gushes the leading progressive media organ Slate.

Kendi is a radical who advocates totalitarianism, and once wrote an op-ed suggesting that white people are aliens from outer space.

The Fairfax County County Public Schools (FCPS) are so contemptuous of taxpayers that they waste money with impunity. FCPS paid bus drivers to drive empty buses when schools were closed during the coronavirus pandemic.
