In case you missed it, actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus and former presidential candidate Andrew Yang performed some cuter-than-hell shtick during the Democratic National Convention where they pretended to have difficulty pronouncing Vice President Mike Pence’s name.

“Is it ‘Mika Pints?’ or ‘Paints?’ Or maybe ‘Ponce,'” Yang wondered aloud.

“Oh, some kind of weird foreign name?” Louis-Dreyfus added.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

“Yeah, not very American-sounding,” Yang replied.

The Associated Press explains that “it was a quick bit of satire with a pointed message from Democrats: When top Republicans — including President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence — mispronounce Democratic vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris’ first name, it’s not just disrespectful, it’s racist.”

Duly noted.

But has an inability to pronounce “Kamala” always been an indicator that the speaker was racist? If so, get a look at who’s racist:

Or listen to the speaker at 0:41 in this video.

That’s former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown, who dated Harris for about a year in the mid-1990s. Are we supposed to believe that in all that time, he mispronounced her name as “kuh-MAL-uh” or worse yet “kuh-MEL-uh,” as he does here?

And if the pronunciation of the former senator’s name is so obvious to the enlightened Left why did CNN, USA Today, Oprah mag, Town & Country, and Marie Claire — all liberal publications — run guides on how to pronounce her name?

In any case, the one detail about the name of Joe Biden’s running mate worth knowing is that in Finnish it translates to “horrible.”
