Try to see it from the assailants’ side: They wanted to get home and their flight was unavoidably delayed. End of story.
Except that that wasn’t the end of the story, which we’ve all experienced at one time or another. The three passengers, Danaysha Dixon, 22; Keira Ferguson, 21; and Tymaya Wright, 20, were unwilling to take no for an answer. So they went ballistic at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
According to the Philadelphia Inquirer the three women “intentionally struck [Spirit Airline] employees with phones, shoes, water bottles, metal boarding signs, and fast food. … [E]mployees were punched and kicked repeatedly.”
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
Police were summoned and the three were arrested and charged with assault and battery. As though the women hadn’t publicly debased themselves enough with their petulant and potentially deadly tantrum, one of them, Tymaya Wright was also charged with petty theft for allegedly boosting an employee’s cell phone, which police found in her backpack.
The three may not get back to Philly as soon as they’d like, but when they do they’ll have a great story to tell about how their names and pictures were in the newspaper. They’ll even have a “home movie” to share courtesy of Instagram.
