Al Qaeda may be on the run, as Barack Obama proclaimed on 32 separate occasions, but they are running toward — not away from — the great white Satan.
The New York Times has the details of one of their latest recruitment efforts:
Two female roommates in Queens have been charged with planning to build a bomb that they wanted to detonate in the United States.
The roommates, Noelle Velentzas, 28, and Asia Siddiqui, 31, both United States citizens, were named in a complaint unsealed on Thursday in Federal District Court in Brooklyn.
Ms. Siddiqui “is currently in possession of multiple propane gas tanks, as well as instructions for how to transform propane tanks into explosive devices,” the complaint reads.
The report goes on to note that the women had been in communication with al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula personnel and has also viewed videos of Islamic State beheadings, according to the complaint.
CBS New York adds that Siddiqui also went by the names “Najma Samaa” and “Murdiyyah” and that Valentzas praised the 9/11 terror attacks to an undercover operative, saying that being martyred in a suicide attack guarantees entrance into heaven. She is also reported to have told the operative:
If we get arrested, the police will point their guns at us from the back and maybe from the front. If we can get even one of their weapons, we can shoot them.
As for radicalization, WABC in New York notes that in the last 18 months approximately 30 people have been charged with joining terrorist groups in Syria and Iraq or trying to do so.
