Thanksgiving wishes from Liberty Unyielding

Although America faces difficult times, our hope for each of you in LU Nation is that you have a blessed and joyful Thanksgiving.

Even in tough times, we have much to be thankful for. One of the things we are most thankful for is you, our readers (and energetic correspondents!).

Before turning you loose to enjoy time with family, friends, good food, and thankful contemplation, just a couple of things to think about this holiday weekend.

Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?

Thanksgiving Day this year occurs on the anniversary of George Washington’s first proclamation of a “national day of thanksgiving”: 26 November 1789.  Here is a copy of his proclamation as it appeared in the newspapers of the time.

Many years and events have intervened since that first “Thanksgiving Day” was proclaimed for the United States of America.  But in this year and this time, we can do no better than reach across history to touch our roots, and remember where we came from.

As always, a little musical encouragement to brighten your celebration.

Came back safe and sound.  Happy Thanksgiving, LU Nation.
