[Ed. – Good help is so hard to find these days.]
The kidnapping of a millionaire’s estranged wife — one orchestrated by the husband himself — was going according to plan until the two men he hired hit a traffic jam on their way to Baton Rouge.
Sylvester Bracey and Arsenio Haynes wielded semiautomatic handguns as they forced their way into the Lafayette, La., home of Schanda Handley in August 2017 and placed a bag over her head before taking her away in their rented van, according to court documents. The men had been hired by Lawrence Michael Handley, whose marriage to Schanda turned volatile after multiple restraining orders were filed that year.
But when an off-duty sheriff’s deputy noticed Bracey and Haynes driving on the shoulder of the road to avoid traffic, the men were pursued by police in a high-speed chase and ended up abandoning the van with Schanda Handley inside.
