China: U.S. likely COVID-19 source; ‘white supremacists’ trying to silence truth

Beijing’s propaganda mouthpiece the Global Times has claimed international scientists including an Australian have been pressured by “far-right extremists” to stop suggesting COVID-19 was caused by animal transmission.

“Prominent US and Australian scientists focused on the COVID-19 origins tracing are now facing tremendous political pressure, and some have been sidelined for not yielding to (the) politicians-driven conspiracy theory,” it said.

The Global Times claimed an Australian scientist was among those who received death threats from what it said were most likely people with “far-right and even white supremacism leanings”.

“’He was threatened that if he continued expressing opinions on the origins of the virus, he may face even further crackdown’, a source close to the matter said,” according to the Global Times.
