Considering there’s no justifiable mission for the troops in Washington, D.C. at this point, it really is important to make clear that “unity” can only be based on things that are unifying. Keeping troops resting on the floors for days on end — even if they’re inside — while they have no valid mission, is not unifying. Texas, Florida, and New Hampshire Republican Govs. Greg Abbott, Ron DeSantis, and Chris Sununu have recalled members of their state National Guard from Washington, D.C., after thousands of soldiers were forced to rest in a parking garage in near-freezing temperatures.
