A California mayor has apologized and vowed to “do better” after he flouted health guidelines to attend a Thanksgiving meal with relatives from multiple households.
San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo on Tuesday said he and his wife, Jessica, went to his parents’ house for an outdoor meal with seven other people from five households.
“I have a very large family—I am one of five children—and several of our family members who would have often joined us for Thanksgiving in the past—including sisters, nephews, nieces and cousins—stayed home out of caution,” Liccardo wrote on Twitter.
