The NBA loses millions of dollars every day that professional basketball games are not played amid the outbreak of the coronavirus, and at the moment, it seems as if the players and league are at an impasse when it comes to spreading the burden of that loss. The NBA is proposing for players to take a 50 percent pay cut while games are suspended, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic. They originally asked for that pay cut to into effect on April 15, the next standard NBA payday upon that report. The National Basketball Players Association has countered with a 25 percent pay cut that would begin in mid-May, according to Charania. On Thursday, Charania reported that the players will receive full paychecks on April 15.
