Over the past two weeks, not one of the 172 coronavirus tests performed on Moduc residents proved positive for COVID-19 – even though the county has refused to comply with Gov. Newsom’s orders requiring businesses, churches and schools to close and Californians to don masks, The San Francisco Gate reports [sic; SFGate is the Chronicle online – Ed.]:
“Modoc was the first county to reopen its economy, defying Newsom’s shelter-in-place order. On May 1, all businesses, churches and schools were allowed to open with modifications and a requirement that people keep six feet apart. Residents age 65 and older and those with underlying health conditions were told to stay home.
