[Ed. – Meantime, it’s business as usual in Chicagoland.]
More than 80 people were shot, nearly two dozen fatally, as violence erupted across Chicago this weekend, marking one of the city’s most violent weekends so far this year.
In the city’s most recent fatal shooting, a man was shot and killed when someone opened fire into a group of people in the 5100 block of West Madison Street, police said.
The group was standing outside in the area when someone walked up and fired shots, striking three people, according to authorities. A 27-year-old was shot in the leg and taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, where he later died. An 18-year-old woman also suffered three gunshot wounds to the leg and a 21-year-old man was shot in the foot. Both were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in fair condition.
