The limits of Anthony Fauci’s expertise

Dr. Anthony Fauci has proven he doesn’t understand economics. His Tuesday Senate testimony also suggested the limits of his knowledge about public health.

As for the economic impact of the shutdowns encouraged by Dr. Fauci, the disaster is manifest. The Journal’s Nick Timiraos reports on Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell’s latest report to Congress:

“The scope and speed of this downturn are without modern precedent, significantly worse than any recession since World War II,” Mr. Powell said in a speech delivered online Wednesday that revealed growing alarm with the path facing the economy and the potential for an insufficient policy response…

Does Dr. Fauci still regard life under lockdown as merely “inconvenient”? Of course economics is not his field, but presumably as a U.S. citizen he has noticed the gargantuan impact of the government response to the virus.
