[Ed. – Not the first time Democrats have said things like this. Spending money on consumption is never investment.  No matter who is doing it.  That doesn’t mean spending money on consumption isn’t necessary.  It means it is never investment.]

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D.-Calif.) appeared on “Real Time with Bill Maher” on Friday and said that when the federal government spends money on food stamps that is “stimulus.”

Maher had asked Pelosi about the massive deficit spending the federal government has been engaging in since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. …

“Well, it is an investment,” Pelosi said in part of her response. …

“The fact is, we expect a return on this money,” Pelosi said. “When we invest in food stamps, that’s stimulus. When we invest in Unemployment Insurance, that’s stimulus. …”
