New York, other Northeastern states extend shutdown to mid-May

[Ed. – Two things. One, Cuomo has a cutesy slogan for the shutdown: “New York on PAUSE.”  That’s so “process over product.” (Which usually means: beware what the process is doing to you.)  Next up: the PAUSE’s own theme song and logo?  Two, the (mostly) Democratic governors doing these “regional coordination” moves are too ready to pull that trigger. It doesn’t look like the Confederacy (yet), but it does look like the “council of governments” city-county “regionalism” beloved of Agenda 21, writ large. Watch for these governors to band together to demand federal policy accommodations and haggle over money.]

New York and other East Coast states are extending their shutdown of nonessential businesses to May 15 as officials grapple with how to reopen parts of the economy without leading to a resurgence in coronavirus cases, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Thursday.

Cuomo announced the move at his daily briefing in Albany and via Twitter, saying “New York on PAUSE” will be extended in coordination with other states.  …

He reiterated his plans to work with other governors on a coordinated plan to gradually reopen commerce in the region. Cuomo is leading a working group of seven governors from the Northeast, including New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Delaware, who are coordinating their response to the pandemic.
