The latest CNBC All-America Economic Survey, which polled 800 Americans in recent days and was published on Wednesday, found that 10% of Americans are newly unemployed, while 16% have seen their wages or salaries reduced as the coronavirus pandemic spreads across the U.S. and throughout the world.
The survey’s findings fall roughly in line with several other national polls that in recent days have shed light on just how significant a disruption the coronavirus outbreak has been to the domestic economy. The Pew Research Center last week estimated 1 in 3 Americans has had to take a paycut or has been laid off because of the outbreak. Pew suggests the job and wage disruptions have disproportionately slammed America’s Latino population, with roughly 49% of such respondents saying they’ve lost pay or employment in recent weeks.
