[Ed. – This comes back to the credibility of the allegation that Saudi Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s phone was used to hack the Bezos texts, and the Saudis leaked them. That allegation has been tied for months to Qatar/Al-Jazeera (and probably Iran). The point is not that the Saudis are pure and innocent; it’s that there’s a battle going on between the Iran faction and the Saudi faction in the Middle East for information dominance in American news. Many of the same actors are involved in both the Spygate anti-Trump operation and the info campaign against Saudi Arabia (the nexus is extremely obvious in the themes promoted by outfits like Ben Rhodes’s National Security Action group). Don’t let Iran win the battle for your brain by believing every allegation about the Saudis. There’s enough that they’ve actually done to keep us busy.]
Federal prosecutors in Manhattan have evidence indicating Jeff Bezos ’ girlfriend provided text messages to her brother that he then sold to the National Enquirer for its article about the Amazon.com Inc. founder’s affair, according to people familiar with the matter.
The text messages, which were reviewed by The Wall Street Journal, were among the materials turned over to federal prosecutors as part of their investigation into whether American Media Inc., publisher of the National Enquirer, attempted to extort Mr. Bezos, the people said. The U.S. attorney’s office has also been investigating whether Mr. Bezos’ phone was hacked, according to the people.
