As the impeachment Congress, we risk people feeling we’re ignoring issues that mean a lot to them

[Ed. – It’s encouraging to see there are still glimmers of sanity on the Democratic side.]

Sen. Dick Durbin said there is no chance of impeaching Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh after a New York Times article came out over the weekend with a new allegation of sexual misconduct.

“Get real,” the Illinois Democrat said Monday, according to Politico. “We’ve got to get beyond this ‘impeachment is the answer to every problem.’ It’s not realistic.”

“If that’s how we are identified in Congress, as the impeachment Congress, we run the risk that people will feel we’re ignoring the issues that mean a lot to them as families,” he added. Durbin, 74, is a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, which oversaw the confirmation of Kavanaugh.
