A cop shouting “bomb” sent passersby ducking for cover Friday morning after he discovered a “suspicious device” on a Queens subway platform — that turned out to be a thermos and an umbrella, according to witnesses and police.
The panic ensued after an unidentified, 68-year-old man hurled himself in front of an A train as it pulled into the 80th Street station at 6:45 a.m., police said. According to sources, the man dropped a knapsack on the platform before jumping.
A responding officer brought the bag to street level before peering inside and seeing a gray pipe-like object that appeared to be wrapped in electrical tape, sources said.

“He jumped back and started shouting, ‘Everyone move back, get out of here, get off the block. There is a bomb,’” witness Troy Singh, 32, who lives across the street, told The Post.
