Texas city declares itself ‘sanctuary city’ for the unborn

Mary Margaret Olohan of the Daily Caller News Foundation reports that a Texas town has voted to declare itself a “sanctuary city for the unborn.” Similar to “sanctuary cities” pushed by leftist Democrats hoping to protect illegal aliens from deportation by federal authorities, Waskom, TX hopes to save unborn babies from abortion. The city council defied state and federal law last week by banning abortion completely.

Olohan reports that Waskom’s decision “was pushed by Right to Life of East Texas and precedes another bill Texas lawmakers are pushing, which would require doctors to care for babies born alive following botched abortions. Abortions are not permitted in the state of Texas after 20 weeks.”
