[Ed. – This is a reasonable observation, regardless of how the Obama administration’s activities are characterized. Obama had to know they were happening. We have specific information that he was being kept in the loop, and even approved important developments like formation of the interagency task force in August 2016, which would have been the key to enabling so much of what was done. The issue here is not whether Obama knew, but what purpose we ascribe to those in his administration.]
President Trump stopped short of accusing former President Barack Obama of conspiring against him, but maintained that his predecessor “must have known” about what he characterized as a plot to derail his presidency, during an interview with George Stephanopoulos that aired Sunday.
“You clearly believe there was a group of people working against you. Do you think President Obama was behind it?” Stephanopoulos asked when his presidential interview turned to the Mueller investigation.
“I would say that he certainly must have known about it because it went very high up in the chain,” Trump responded. “But you’re going to find that out. I’m not going to make that statement quite yet, but I would say that President Obama had to know about it.”
