[Ed. – Maybe registering sex offenders isn’t enough.]
A registered sex offender was arrested for murder after a woman was found dead inside a home in Thonotosassa [Fla.] on Sunday.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, someone called 911 and said 54-year-old Samuel Parsons had asked them to contact law enforcement.
Deputies responded to a home in the 9700 block of Ellison Road shortly after 8 a.m. and found Parsons standing on the front porch. He was detained.
Deputies entered the home and found the body of a woman who had suffered upper body trauma. The woman was not identified and the relationship between the victim and Parsons was not disclosed.
“Subsequent interviews and processing of the crime scene led to the arrest of Parsons for 2nd Degree Murder with a Weapon,” HCSO spokesman Danny Alvarez said in a news release.
Alvarez said Parsons served a 14-year stint in Florida State Prison after being convicted of sexual battery (victim under 12). He also has previous arrests for distribution of marijuana and failure to register as a sexual offender.
According to Alvarez, deputies had responded to the home before for non-violent domestic disturbances, but no arrests were made.
