BREAKING: Gaza-fired rockets set off sirens in Tel Aviv; Iron Dome intercepts one

[Ed. – This is significant: Hamas is using higher-powered, longer-range rockets in today’s attack. (It’s Thursday night in Israel.)  Recent rocket attacks from Gaza have been much shorter range, threatening the area closer to the border with Israel.  Threats to Tel Aviv have typically been associated with an escalation, and almost always draw a major response from Israel.]

At 9:05 PM the rocket alert went off in the Gush Dan / Tel Aviv region. …

Iron Dome was launched. One rocket was intercepted. The second fell in an open area.

There are unconfirmed reports of fallen missile shrapnel in Tel Aviv.
