Showtime’s new late night talk show Desus & Mero premiered this week, with hosts Desus Nice and The Kid Mero, aka The Bodega Boys, interviewing Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) for their first episode.
Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) and Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) also made appearances in the show’s debut, available here.
In the interview with Ocasio-Cortez, the hosts asked about the green new deal and cow farts, they talked about memes and meanies on Twitter, and of course the Democratic Socialist talked about how much money the government should permit its citizens to earn and keep.
“Why are you trying to take all our money away from us,” Desus asked jokingly. “We just signed with Showtime, and now you’re trying to put the wild tax on millionaires! What’s wrong with you?”
“No seriously though, please look straight to the camera and explain the tax shit for the dumb m***er f**kers,” said Mero.
Ocasio-Cortez talked about what a marginal tax rate is, saying that “if you make more than $10 million in one year, which is a pretty good year…” she began.
