State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert has withdrawn herself from consideration to become the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, the State Department confirmed on Saturday.

“I am grateful to President Trump and Secretary [of State Mike] Pompeo for the trust they placed in me for considering me for the position of U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. State Department spokesman Robert Palladino said in a department news release that the president “will make an announcement with respect to a nominee for U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations soon.”
