Survey: Democrats, Republicans profoundly divided on whether economy’s good now

Republicans and Democrats are widely divided on how the Trump administration has affected the national economy over the past two years, according to a poll released Friday.

Exactly 75 percent of President Trump’s Republican base says national economic conditions are “excellent or good,” the Pew Research survey concluded. …

Only 32 percent of Democrats think the current state of financial affairs is in good shape. …

Parties were also divided over whether jobs were readily available in their communities, though a majority of both parties said yes. Slightly more than 7 in 10 Republicans said yes, compared to 53 percent of Democrats.
