German army eyes recruiting EU citizens

[Ed. – No, silly, not that German army. Not the EU army being pushed by Germany. This is the actual German army, contemplating the recruitment of people from other EU nations to fill vacant positions.  (No wonder Germany doesn’t want Brexit to happen.  The whole British Commonwealth, with its big armed forces recruiting base, departs the building.)]

Seven years after Germany scrapped conscription, its defence chief has said employing EU citizens is “an option” to fill expert posts.

Army general inspector Eberhard Zorn said the forces had to “look in all directions in times of a lack of qualified personnel”, such as doctors and IT specialists.

The armed forces have been beset by years of under-investment.
