Hamas missile barrage strikes Israel; most ever in one day

[Ed. – This is a major ramp-up. A full analysis will take time, but the first-day indications are of concern.  Multiple Israeli homes were destroyed, and the damage I saw to one indicated a larger warhead than Hamas has typically used before. Hamas also attacked a bus used for transporting IDF soldiers — literally 60 seconds after the soldiers had gotten off.  The Arab driver of the bus was injured in the attack, conducted with a Russian-made antitank missile.]

The conflict between Israel and Hamas escalated over the past weekend, with more than 200 missiles launched from Gaza today alone. Sirens, warning of more inbound rockets, continue to sound in southern Israel.

A number of videos appear to show the Israeli Iron Dome missile defense system intercepting incoming missile from Gaza. The IDF reports 60 have been successfully intercepted.

The IDF said it launched 20 counter-strikes on Hamas, PFLP, and Islamic Jihad targets inside Gaza, destroying at least three Hamas tunnels, observation posts, terror compounds, and rocket-launching squads.
