Although the fight occurred on June 28, Douglas Ferguson, 76, wasn’t arrested until Tuesday because of injuries he suffered, which required amputation of a leg, the Sheriff’s Office said. …

An investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division revealed that Ferguson tried to attack his son, who was mowing the yard, with a running chainsaw, the release states.

During the attack, the son, who has not been identified, defended himself by running over his father with the mower, according to the release.

Detectives said the two had a running feud.
