Judge gags defense for accused ‘Russian agent’ Butina; rebukes feds for misreading joke texts

[Ed. – This is the “Obama special” judge who also caught the Imran Awan case — for which he got a ridiculously light slap on the wrist — and twice delayed recusing herself from lawsuits brought against Fusion GPS.  She’s holding Maria Butina without bail on the “charge” that Butina’s boyfriend tried to set up meetings between Russians and Trump officials.  The whole thing looks like a farce.]

A federal judge has imposed a gag order in the case of accused Russian agent Maria Butina after concluding her defense lawyer “overstepped” the line in a series of news media interviews.

U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan also ordered that Butina, 29, will continue to be detained pending trial after affirming the Russian woman presents a serious flight risk.

But the judge also had a warning for prosecutors in the case, who recently acknowledged they had misinterpreted messages between Butina and a friend to make the false claim that she was trying to trade sex for a job.
