[Ed. – We here at LU try to bring you only the best in mystery booms.  Booms that someone has an even half-way plausible explanation for, we shy away from (unless the potential source is of overriding interest; e.g., a meteor hitting north Texas).  The collection here is carefully curated to feature booms that really do remain mysteries to the local authorities.  Apparently, in Springfield Township (PA), they’re so bumfoozled they’ve called in the FBI.]

Federal and local authorities are investigating mysterious booms being reported in Upper Bucks and Lehigh Counties.

Local police municipalities have been receiving reports of the booms since early April. All reported sounds have taken place between the hours of 2 a.m. and 4:30 a.m.
