[Ed. – The feeding frenzy over Kushner’s interim clearance — first, that he had it; then, that it wasn’t pulled when others’ were; then, that it was pulled — was always absurd and opportunistic.  Interim top secret clearances have been perfectly normal since the Lord gave the tablets of the law to Will Bill Donovan.  There’s nothing nefarious about them.  People who’ve never had a clearance often have interim status for years before their final clearances are granted.  The backlog on background checks is huge.  White House personnel obviously get priority, but it just takes time to complete an SSBI properly.  This was an over-politicized nothingburger from the start.]

On Thursday, Trump advisor Jared Kushner’s top secret clearance was restored. That approval came just a few months after Kushner’s temporary top secret security clearance had been downgraded after delays in completing his background check. In February, the White House Personnel Security Office, based on information from the FBI, had instead given Kushner secret clearance. …

Kushner’s permanent top secret clearance represents a black eye for many in the media who spent weeks speculating that Kushner had lost his temporary clearance thanks to some sort of corruption.
