An Asheville, North Carolina high school civics teacher faced an angry community Wednesday after posting several student-made signs outside her classroom that spoke against illegal immigration….
Angry students reacted and filmed the chaos as they filled the halls with chants of “Mexico:”
Wednesday morning, a hostile group of parents met at the school and demanded answers and an apology from the teacher. A tearful Jesse Reeck addressed them in the auditorium:
“I want to apologize to everyone who has been hurt by my poor choice to post our class assignment in the hall. I am deeply sorry for the pain I have caused to students, parents and community members. I made a serious mistake in posting the assignment in the hall outside the background and the context and the safe environment that we have created inside our classroom.
Reeck explained that the signs were part of an assignment that observed the current political campaign and to be a reflection of what is seen in the news.
