Fan dies after falling from upper deck at MLB game

Saturday night’s Yankees-Braves game turned tragic as a fan died after falling from the upper deck at Turner Field during the seventh inning.

The fan plummeted from Section 401, landing roughly 50 feet below on the stairway separating Sections 201 and 202. He was identified early Sunday to the Daily News as 60-year-old Gregory Murrey of Alpharetta, Ga., by the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office.

According to a source, those two sections were heavily occupied by family members and friends of both the Yankees and Braves.

“Children from (the Braves’ players) were so close, they could have touched him,” the source said.

Atlanta police said the man died upon arrival at Grady Memorial Hospital.

An usher told one reporter that the fan who died was a season-ticket holder.
