A 30-year-old man is accused of choking and sexually assaulting a young woman who had been married to him in an arranged marriage by her parents.
According to court documents, the victim’s parents married her to Mohamed S. Abdullahi last November without the victim’s knowledge.
The victim learned of the marriage in December and fled the state, returning 15 days later to finish high school.
On April 20, 2015, the victim was taken by her family members, against her will, to Abdullahi’s apartment in east Phoenix.
According to the report, Abdullahi punched the victim in the left eye, causing her to fall to the ground.
Abdullahi allegedly climbed on top of the victim, straddling her body with his legs.
The victim screamed and tried to fight Abdullahi and he grabbed her by the throat and choked her, impeding her breathing, according to the documents.
