A man stole hundreds of dollars from a disabled Girl Scout who was selling cookies outside a Lansing Kmart on Sunday afternoon, police reported.
Police said a 49-year-old Lansing woman and her daughter, who police described as “disabled/mobility impaired,” were selling Girl Scout cookies outside of Kmart in the 5400 block of South Cedar Street. The girl is a “Juliette,” meaning she is the only member of her Girl Scout troop.
The woman told police she walked away to go to her car and, while she was gone, she saw a man behind the table where she and her daughter were selling cookies. The man grabbed the cash box that had the day’s sales and then ran to his vehicle, police said.
The woman and others yelled at the man to stop, but he got to his car and drove away in a late 1990s or early 2000s Dodge Dakota extended cab pickup truck with no license plate and damage to the rear bumper.
