It’s the third sickening case of animal abuse in Florida’s Tampa Bay area, in just 24 hours.
Authorities say a Davenport man punished his 18-month-old pit bull by hanging it from a tree before dragging its corpse behind an ATV, all because he said it “made a mess in the trailer.”
Victor (Manny) Solano, 29, allegedly carried out the barbaric crime against his dog Wednesday because he couldn’t find a gun to shoot it, Polk County deputies said.
He first went to neighbors asking for a firearm, even sharing his intentions, but when he came away empty-handed he turned to some rope instead, deputies said.
When neighbors looked back at Solano’s property a short time later they said they saw his gray dog dangling lifeless by its neck.
Solano removed it from the tree, attached its body to an ATV and dragged it to a pasture and threw its corpse into a pond, deputies said.
