Thanksgiving morning a 33-year-old mother of three awoke to the scary reality that a man was breaking into her house, which lead the scared mom to protect her family by shooting the intruder after reporting the disturbance to 911.
Detective Sgt. Bob Barker of the Edmonds Police Department says that around 3 AM PT on Thanksgiving the intruder overpowered the woman after banging on the door and bursting into the home.
The woman, who had armed herself, “struggled with the intruder trying to prevent him from entering the house,” Sgt. Mark Marsh said. “She realized that she could not continue to hold him out and as the suspect forced his way inside the house she fired one shot and struck the suspect in the abdomen.”
Police are investigating whether the man was drunk and possibly went to the wrong house while looking for someone who doesn’t live at this particular home any longer, as the house is a rental and this family had just recently moved in.
