Shock jock fired for racist Twitter rant

Longtime shock jock Anthony Cumia has been fired from his “Opie & Anthony” radio gig after unleashing a racially charged Twitter rant on Tuesday.

SiriusXM made the decision to release Cumia after he took to the social media website to vent about a run in he had with a black woman in Times Square.

The 53-year-old satellite radio host claims that the woman repeatedly punched him early Tuesday after he had taken some pictures with her in the frame.

The company released a statement that read:

“SiriusXM has terminated its relationship with Anthony Cumia of the Opie & Anthonychannel. The decision was made, and Cumia informed, late Thursday, July 3, after careful consideration of his racially charged and hate-filled remarks on social media. Those remarks and postings are abhorrent to SiriusXM, and his behavior is wholly inconsistent with what SiriusXM represents.”

Cumia once again took to twitter to give his response, choosing to stick to his guns.

“Sirius decided to cave and fire me. Welcome to bizarro world…” he tweeted Friday morning.

“After the weekend, I’ll have a better idea of things. F*** Sirius.”
