A 51-year-old man collapsed and died Wednesday morning outside a Cleveland courtroom minutes after a judge sentenced him to 60 days in jail.
Miguel Aybar slumped to the hallway floor outside Judge Michelle Denise Earley’s courtroom shortly before noon. He was in handcuffs when he collapsed, court spokesman Ed “Flash” Ferenc said.
Earley sentenced Aybar after he was found guilty of a third-degree misdemeanor charge of unlawful restraint.
Aybar was accused of restraining a 14-year-old girl and of “kissing her in the mouth with his tongue,” according to the record.
Aybar’s cause of death wasn’t immediately available. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office will make that determination.
