Charlie Rangel to face another ethics probe?

Potential ethics violations involving Rep. Charlie Rangel (D-N.Y.) threaten to steal his spotlight after a hard-fought primary win earlier in the week.

Rangel failed to report an all-expense paid trip to China last August with nine other lawmakers from the Congressional Black Caucus, the National Journal reported.

The 84-year-old New York Democrat was the only lawmaker who failed to report the trip, a violation of House rules.

Rangel has since corrected the disclosure forms, which his staff says was an oversight caused by a tough primary battle against state Sen. Adriano Espaillat last Tuesday.

On the trip to China, which was funded by the Chinese government, Rangel traveled with Democratic Reps. Gregory Meeks (N.Y.), Sheila Jackson Lee (Texas), G.K. Butterfield (N.C.), Andre Carson (Ind.), Emanuel Cleaver (Mo.), Marcia Fudge (Ohio), Hank Johnson (Ga.), Donald Payne (N.J.), and Frederica Wilson (Fla.).

The 22-term incumbent has been questioned about his international travels before.
