Easter Sunday is a good day for ‘pot tourism,’ or something

Today—April 20, 2014—is an interesting day: It’s both Easter Sunday and, well, 4/20. And if you’re not on one of these relaxing Easter getaways, according to a recent study by Hotels.com, you’re most likely in Denver during this weekend. Relaxing in other ways.

Not that it’s anything to be ashamed of: The legalization of pot sales has proven to be a huge boon to tourism in Colorado, what with all the pot tourism packages and even a soon-to-launch ‘Bud and Breakfast‘ (yes, really). Despite the TSA not exactly being too thrilled about it all, the Hotels.com study revealed that interest in travel to Denver only continues to grow and is expected to spike this weekend, when searches for hotel stays in the city increased by 73%.

Not that we’re saying pot is the only reason to visit Denver. There are many excellent reasons to visit: Amazing food, shopping, cool bars, the arts and culture scene, nature. But if you are indulging in a little 420 on 4/20, don’t go overboard—carry-on cannabis is strictly forbidden, so you won’t be able to bring home any “souvenirs.”
