The young sister of a prominent Taliban leader was caught Sunday wearing a suicide vest in southern Afghanistan, authorities said.
The girl, possibly as young as 8, was intercepted as she tried to carry out an attack on border police, BBC reports. Interior Ministry spokesman Sediq Sediqi confirmed that an Afghan soldier saw the girl wearing a suicide jacket. The vest did not explode, either because she could not operate the button to detonate it or because she was arrested before she could press it.
